In recent months there has been a great deal of media and messaging with the topic and mindset, Nobody’s Coming to Save You. While I understand the idea and objective behind the statement, it’s important that we’re careful about how we approach and put on, if you will, this mindset and spirit.
If we’re not careful, we’ll find ourselves putting on an ego and an attitude that all that we need to accomplish and all that we do accomplish will be done and continue to be done by us alone and within our own power. And while we can’t expect solutions to magically appear in our endeavors and situations, yes, we do have to do something. But believe me, there are going to be times and plenty of them where we’re going to want to save ourselves, but we’re just not going to be able to.
I meet people who often ask me about Only God Can Save Us. My favorite question of them all is, “save us from what?” When people see Only God Can Save Us, they immediately think about salvation. While I am not against salvation through Jesus Christ, that’s not my specific task, if you will, with Only God Can Save Us.

Only God Can Save Us, came to me in a dream a few years ago and I never spoke about it. Literally had no idea why the phrase wouldn’t leave me alone. Many nights I would be awakened by dreams where I would encounter people in trouble and hear a distinct voice. A voice crystal clear, matter of fact, but clearly with a super-natural tone, a sound and command unlike anything you’ve ever heard. Eventually, the dreams began to be events from my past. Personal moments where trouble was in my face; gun to the back of my head, evil literally knocking at the front door. The voice speaks and says, Only God Can Save Us and I awake.
To most, salvation means deliverance at a later time and from an eternal fate. Yet, I’d like for us to remember God being a present and right now savior. A savior to save us from our own destruction, the cares of this world, and whatever and whoever else may cross our paths. Surely, we’ve all had moments where we’ve done all the physical and mental work that we can do in situations. No matter how much we pushed, pressed, worked, thought, acted; we just couldn’t seem to get the last piece to the puzzle in place. Then out of nowhere, we get the call, the letter, the news, the results -- that our situation is handled. Though we may/ may not like or understand the outcome to our situation – it has the Divine’s signature all over it.
If you’ve never had such an encounter or situation, hold on to your britches. God’s definitely going to take the opportunity to show you who God really is and whose power really works within us and for us. It’s going to be out of your hands, nothing that you or anyone else can do and the Divine will make its grand entrance to remind you who’s really coming to save you and who all the power belongs to.
